El sector automotriz es fundamental para crear un cambio positivo en el medio ambiente. Cada vez se escucha más sobre los autos eléctricos, pero no tanto de camiones con dicha cualidad, hasta que llegaron los Volvo Trucks con acero sin combustibles fósiles.
El acero es el primero en ser producido con hidrógeno y actualmente Volvo lo usa en los raíles del bastidor de los camiones eléctricos, es decir la “columna vertebral” del vehículo donde se montan todas las piezas principales, aunque la meta no se queda ahí, pues espera que con el aumento de disponibilidad se logre implementar en otras partes del camión.
¿Cuál es la meta? La empresa asegura que aproximadamente el 30 por ciento de los materiales usados en sus nuevos camiones son provenientes de materiales reciclados, aunque se podría llegar hasta el 90 por ciento. Se espera que para 2040 se logre la emisión neta de gases de efecto invernadero de cero en toda la cadena de valor.
